14 Operating rooms get Altro Whitrock hygienic wall system installation

Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, in Sugar Land Texas, is a 187 bed, 14 operating room hospital that ranks as one of the best in the region.

To keep pace with the expansion in service lines and the number of new  procedures the hospital was performing, Methodist Sugar Land decided to expand their facility.

The hospital was first introduced to Altro Whiterock during the renovation of their dish washing room. The hospital had an immediate need and the previously specified white ceramic tile required four days for installation-this was unacceptable.

Whiterock was installed in just a day and half.

Methodist then decided to use Whiterock in their Cystoscopy room. They selected Whiterock because this new area required wall protection that looked clean, was seamless, and didn’t crack. After the success with the Cystoscopy and dishwashing areas, Whiterock was selected for both of the newly constructed operating rooms.

This lead to Whiterock being used in a hybrid OR at the separate San Jacinto facility in Bay Town, TX. In total, over 100 panels of Whiterock have been installed in this project and the hospital plans to use the product going forward.

“Infection control is a very important aspect of the operating room environment,” says Mike Smith, Director of Facility Planning. “We have used other wall systems in the past but were more pleased with the Altro Whiterock product. For hygienic areas, Whiterock is as good as it gets.”
