Altro achieves top marks at university laboratory

Altro Designer 25

Macquarie University in Sydney is one of Australia’s top academic institutions. Its facilities managers have a long history of delivering award-winning academic building projects, due in part to their insistence in using the highest quality materials in the fitout. When they needed to upgrade their laboratories, there really was only one option for their flooring – Altro Designer 25.

Macquarie first used Altro safety flooring more than seven years ago, and now, having used around 3,000m², they know full well that it is durable, easy to clean and has a high resistance to many chemicals. In addition, independent testing at their laboratories of their existing Altro Designer 25 flooring showed that its slip resistance had actually significantly improved over time, even in the high wear areas. The test house, Safe Environments, was pleasantly surprised at this result, given the fact that most other flooring loses its slip resistance over time.

Peter Squibb, Senior Project Manager at Macquarie University is more than happy with the results: “Macquarie University has used Altro’s safety flooring throughout the science laboratory complex for some years now.  We have found that the floor can withstand virtually any punishment the staff and students can dish out.  The testing undertaken by Safe Environments validates my decision to use Altro,” he said.

When it comes to rugged, hardwearing safety flooring, Altro Designer 25 is the real deal. It’s engineered with quartz, silicon carbide and aluminium trioxide for long-term durability and slip resistance, making it great for heavy duty environments with moveable or wheeled furniture.  Designed for low maintenance, it incorporates Altro Easyclean Original Technology for a lasting attractive appearance and savings in time and cleaning costs.
