Queens University

Queens University renovates their kitchen and dining areas with Altro

Queens University, located in Kingston, Ontario Canada, is one of Canada’s oldest degree-granting institutions, and has influenced Canadian higher education since 1841. This mid-sized university is a full-spectrum, research-intensive university that conducts leading edge research in a variety of areas.

Queens University was in need of a full kitchen renovation. They were looking for a safe and hygienic solution for their floors and walls. Designed Food Systems Inc., food service planning and design consultants out of Ontario, Canada, specified Altro products for this renovation.

The renovation used 225 square yards of Altro Maxis Unity safety flooring. Altro Maxis Unity is designed to withstand high volumes of foot and wheeled traffic. This product is stain resistant, slip resistant, and extremely durable. The inclusion of our industry leading Altro Easyclean Maxis PUR™ adds improved cleanability and color retention which reduces maintenance costs compared to other floors was an important factor for Queens University.

Queens University chose to use Altro Whiterock and Altro Whiterock Chameleon for their walls in the kitchen renovation. Altro Whiterock prevents water and mold penetration from floor to ceiling by creating a seamless, impervious and water-tight solution. There is nowhere for bacteria to hide Altro Whiterock is perfect for areas where hygiene is mission critical. Altro Whiterock Chameleon makes a bold and confident design statement wherever it is installed.

The University was so pleased with the installation of the floors and walls in their kitchen; they decided to install 2200 sq ft of Altro Lavencia Tavern Bourbon in the front of house. Altro Lavencia is a wood or stone look luxury vinyl tile that blends style and performance while bringing a classic look to any commercial or residential application.
