Factory Waste

The installation of the world’s first in house safety flooring recycling system means that we haven’t sent any PVC waste to landfill since 2007. This safety flooring waste is now recycled into new Altro safety flooring products. This, coupled with the identification of further recycling opportunities and elimination of waste at source, has led to a 70% reduction in total waste to landfill between 2006 and 2010.

Packaging Waste

In the past, we were responsible for sending around 80 tonnes of plastic packaging straight to landfill every year after delivery to the customer. Recently we installed online batch packaging technology at Letchworth which uses 100% recyclable packaging. This means that all Altro safety flooring packaging, from the end caps to the core and the wrap itself can be recycled as cardboard. This packaging bears the RESY recycling symbol – a guarantee of this recyclability.

Office Waste

All office waste is segregated and all consumables such as paper, cardboard, plastics, cans and print cartridges are recycled.
