Vinyl 2010 & EPFloor

In 2000, the European PVC industry launched Vinyl 2010, a 10-year voluntary commitment to improve the sustainability of PVC over its entire life cycle. The Vinyl 2010 programme commits to continually improving manufacturing processes and products and to increase collection and recycling of post-consumer vinyl waste. In 2009, Vinyl 2010 collected and recycled 190,324 tonnes of post-consumer waste and is well on track to achieve its target of collecting and recycling 200,000 tonnes of post-consumer PVC every year by 2010.

A new voluntary commitment, Vinyl 2020 is currently in development and will embrace new challenges in sustainable development.

Altro fully support the Voluntary Commitment and are an active member of EPFLOOR, the European Flooring Manufacturers Sector Group set up to increase the quantity of post-consumer PVC flooring waste in Western Europe.
