The Loyola University Medical Center recently underwent an expansion project that included 238,000 square feet of new construction and renovation projects. The project included a number of different areas of the hospital, pre-op areas, patient rooms, reception areas, hallways, cardiac catheterization labs and three new electrophysiology laboratories.

The hospital expansion also included 12 new operating rooms that would all need high performance flooring. Working with Pratt Design Studio and HOK Architects, both of Chicago, Illinois, Loyola selected Altro Suprema to be installed in their new operating rooms.

Loyola needed a floor that could stand up to heavy traffic, but still offered hygienic properties. With impressive levels of stain resistance, slip resistance, durability, proven on top of a ten year warranty to back it up, Suprema was an obvious choice for Loyola University’s Medical Center.  In addition, Suprema includes AltroSan an integral bacteriostat inhibits the growth of bacteria and microorganisms ensuring a sterile environment for patients.

In the operating rooms, different colors of Suprema were used in coordinating designs as well as in the patient rooms and corridors where they also use Altro’s Timbersafe as an accent color.
