Huggins Hospital of Wolfeboro, NH is a non-profit, community hospital that has been providing health care services to the communities of the Eastern Lakes Region since 1907.

The hospital cares for over 30,000 year-round residents and 120,000 seasonal residents. The growing demand for health care in the region prompted a major expansion and construction of a new 101,000 square foot facility.

The design team had the challenge of creating healing environments that would combine the hospital's rich history with modern technology and innovation.

They needed flooring that would meet this challenge. Each area of the hospital had special requirements but overall, the flooring had to be durable, resilient, hygienic, and promote a healing environment. There were moisture issues as well, so any flooring installed had to meet the required RH tolerances.
Multiple Altro flooring products were selected for the various areas of the hospital as each product line addressed specific needs.
To help create a healing environment, the smooth, wood-look sheet product, Ethos was chosen for the patient rooms. This was complemented by the slip resistant wood visual sheet product Timbersafe in the patient bathrooms.
Many corridors throughout the Huggins expansion were fit with beautiful Dolce, the smooth luxury vinyl tile, while the kitchens were done with the traditional safety floor Designer 25.

Suprema was selected for many of the operating rooms because of the need for a hygienic floor that didn’t require a finish.
